Experiments were conducted to assess the application of granulated blast furnace slag to improve the water quality and the bottom sediment in coastal sea areas. We measured pH, H{sub}2S, COD and DO levels in seawaters and observed organisms on the surface and within slag for one year. From experimental results, it can be seen that granulated blast furnace slag is applicable to the improvement of the bottom sediment.
