The quenching efficiency of the B(2)Sigma(1/2)(+) state of excimer molecules HgI* and HgBr* in the presence of mercury dihalides (HgI2 + HgBr2) in a gas-discharge plasma is quantitatively estimated for multicomponent mixtures of excimer sources of visible radiation. The measurement method is validated. The quenching rate constants of mercury monoiodide and monobromide in the presence of mercury dihalides are determined to be 1.1 x 10(-10) and 3.4 x 10(-10) cm(3)/s, respectively.
