Vedanta Resources has completed the purchase of the Namibian mine, Skorpion, from Anglo American. The purchase was worth US$707 million. This is subsequent to the announcement earlier in the year that Anglo American would sell its whole zinc portfolio to Vedanta. Next to Skorpion, the zinc portfolio also includes the Lisheen and Black Mountain Mines. Vedanta is currently the biggest global zinc producer and announced a record profit of $337 million in the first half of 2010.
