Bolivia close to deal with Gazprom

Bolivia's state-run YPFB expects to finalise an agreement with Russia's Gazprom to explore for natural gas in Bolivia's Acero and Sunchal fields "in the coming weeks", YPFB says. Negotiations started in 2008. YPFB president Carlos Villegas has reported that Gazprom — together with Total — will develop the Acero block, and potentially invest in the Sunchal block. The blocks are located in the southeast of Bolivia. Exploration will begin as soon as the agreement is signed, according to Villegas.
