Cage processing and waste management: a cost-analysis and decision-making exercise.

Despite the growing product line of semi- and fully automated cagewash systems, the associated costs may seem prohibitive to many. The author argues that most animal care programs would benefit from some degree of automation and describes how cost accounting methods will aid in determining the appropriate degree and kind of cage processing and waste management systems.
