Achance stopover in an unfamiliar town was the start of a new life for Auckland couple Carole and Clyde Paul. On their way home to Helensville from a family gathering in Wellington they stopped for the night in Dannevirke, in south-western Hawke's Bay. They weren't particularly looking to move there, but Carole lingered over a real estate agent's window - as you do - and spotted her dream home. That dream - of living in a big house surrounded by huge trees - was unlikely ever to be fulfilled in Auckland's high-priced property market. But there it was for sale in Ormondville, a small township about 20km north-east of Dannevirke. Carole could barely contain herself and, two weeks later, they flew back to look at the house. "I couldn't believe it whenwe drove down the drive. I just knew it was my dream home - it was the perfect place."
