Lynda Haliinan meets two landscape architects carving their name out of Wellington's steep contours Hamish Moorhead and Mark Newdick have only worked with each other for eighteen months, but they're already finishing one another's sentences. When theenergetic Wellington landscape architects discovered they shared a complementary set of skills and interests - as well as mirror image CVs - they joined forces to create a specialist consultancy that balances aesthetics with ecology and design innovation. Hamish and Mark graduated from Lincoln University's School of Landscape Architecture one year apart, but it took another decade for their career paths to cross. Mark completed a second degree in Resource Management while Hamish headed overseas, firstto New York, where he installed rooftop gardens, and then to Europe where he worked on rural retreats in Tuscany and tiny London courtyards. Mark, meanwhile, made his way to the United Kingdom, arriving in London just as Hamish headed home. "He got my job when I left," Hamish reveals, "but we didn't actually end up meeting until we were both back in Wellington in 2004."
