Media headlines such as 'Atheists more likely to hasten death' (The Guardian, August 26) certainly grab the attention, especially if death is a little closer to you than you might like. Or if you work among people who are dying, as I do.The research by Clive Seale that prompted the headlines was pretty thorough. He surveyed 3,733 UK doctors about the last dying patient they cared for, and received a response from 2,923.
