摘要

Japan is investing heavily in hydrogen technologies to fuel automobiles and generate electricity for homes and businesses, hoping to one day lead an affordable global clean-power revolution. The bold goal from a country that once saw itself as the world's technology epicenter comes with high hurdles, plenty of skeptics and knowledge of how the last big bet on hydrogen ended, when German scientists led by Ferdinand von Zeppelin turned to Earth's lightest gas and most abundant element to float their airships.
