CGN Locks In More Kazakh Pounds

Although the news was buried in a Dec. 8 filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, a subsidiary to China General Nuclear (CGN) revealed this week that starting in 2018 it expects to take nearly half the 3,000 metric tons U3O8 (6.6 million lbs U3O8) per year of production from a Kazakh operation to be jointly owned with Kazatomprom (NIW Nov.11’16). This will net CGN Mining, which will own 49% of the in-situ recovery (ISR) operation, 1,470 tU3O8 per year in both 2018 and 2019.
