HERE TO STAY: Biological products can save the environment and save you money

Anthony Magon, production manager of The Berry Family of Nurseries Florida operation, is moving the nursery toward biological products partly because of a joint effort with the state of Florida to decrease its businesses' footprint on the environment,but also because he believes they simply work better. "With the biologicals, to me they work better than some of your standard chemicals," Magon said. "I've seen it by the amount of applications we have to do. We can reduce applications by using some ofthese biologicals. I use one for spider mites, and I can spray it on and the next day, I don't have spider mites. Your typical chemicals, you have to go through a rotation every three to seven days. If I use a biological, I know it works, and it helps keep my plant from being destroyed by the insect."
