I know people that photograph skippers only when nothing "better" is available. Or, if they are returning home and only have two or three frames empty on their film in the camera (I am, of course, speaking of the OLD generation!). And collectors have"problems" with skippers, too. Many collectors know that mounting relaxed skippers is difficult, and sometimes "solved" by cutting the wing muscles with razorblades or something similar. At any rate, the perceived lack of aesthetically pleasing coloration probably leads many a photographer to bypass skippers. Many seem to prefer taking a picture of a cooperating Admiral with spread wings when compared to a small, brown-gray creature flitting around in the grass. Still, it can be a strongly satisfying feeling to get a good shot of a rare skipper, such as the swamp skipper (e.g., Problema bulenta).
