In the last Forest Owner we asked: "What should you do when a logger knocks?" We advised: call a forester to develop an up-to-date forest management plan if you don't have one. When you and your woods would benefit from harvesting some trees, here aresome points to consider in choosing a logger: Harvesting is part of your overall management plan. The logger must understand your goals and be willing to work to enhance them. For example, trees marked for harvest must be felled so as to not damage thefuture crop trees. Logging roads and skid trails must prevent erosion while respecting other Best Management Practices and future access.
