Cultivar trial in red raspberry.

Two cultivar trials on raspberries were carried out, one at Njos, western Norway (7 cultivars and selections tested), the other at Kise, eastern Norway (11 cultivars and selections tested). Yield, fruit size, vegetative, generative and phenologicalcharacters were recorded. Evaluation of fresh fruit quality was carried out at Njos. At Njos, the cultivar Veten had the highest yield (mean of 1768 kg/0.1 ha) and is recommended as the main cultivar for processing in western Norway. At Kise, Balder exhibited the highest yield (767 kg/0.1 ha) and is suitable for eastern Norway. Glen Lyon, which had firm fruits of acceptable size and yield, is an interesting cultivar for the fresh market. Comox is a promising cultivar for processing and for the local market.
