I was lost in Waipawa (unlikely as it sounds, given the small size of the Central Hawke's Bay town) when a fortuitous wrong turn took me up Rose Street, past the home of stone sculptor Jan Gosling. When I stopped to talk to Jan about her Oamaru stonesculptures, I discovered that the element of chance played a significant part in her art too.
