Birds cause more than 20 million dollar damage each year and this will increase as New Zealand bird populations grow. Bird control needs to be carefully planned. There needs to be a long-term objective, with control carried out during most of the year and certainly before the birds start feeding on a crop. It is a waste of time and money to wait until damage occurs.
