Expansion of the transcritical CO{sub}2-process

The expansion of a vapour compression process can either be performed with or without the extraction of the expansion work. The extraction of the expansion work results in a higher efficiency of the refrigeration process, but requires additional technological efforts. Various options for the expansion with or without the extraction of the expansion work are compared.
