connecting with the customers: At New Jersey's Viking Village, fishermen conduct popular dockside tours and educate an eager public about the life and business of commercial fishing
They say a picture tells a thousand words, so that's where scalloper Jim Gutowski starts talking, in front of a painted mural on one side of the dock shed at Viking Village. "How many people eat sea scallops?" Gutowski asks about 50 people gathered in front of him and the painting. On the wall, a red-hulled scallop boat plows the ocean in search of those bivalves, helpfully rendered in larger-than-life size by the artist.
