More precisely, "A new era has come in understanding of commercial extract from the brown seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum from the scotian shelf of Canada". New findings allow a better knowledge of brown seaweed interaction with crops. More precisely, phytohor-mone activity can explain seaweed extracts activity and Acadian Seaplants has new data this year on this research. "We know that all "seaweeds" are different. We also know that all "seaweed products" are different." explains Neily. The traditionalexplanation that seaweed extracts contain significant quantities of higher plant hormones or growth regulators such as auxins, cytokinins and gibberellins, etc. has been an effective and convenient tool to explain some of the perceived responses and benefits of crops treated with these products. However, there remains a pressing need to explain "how" seaweed extract works at a biochemical level and indeed that different seaweed extracts perform differently.
