摘要

The US Senate is in the final stages of debate on financial reform legislation and President Obama is making an overhaul of Wall Street rules a top priority in coming weeks in an effort that could hold a range of implications for the natural gas industry. Lawmakers appear to be leaning toward exempting "end-users" from requirements for over-the-counter transactions to move onto regulated exchanges and clearing houses. End-users include oil and gas producers, local gas distribution companies, and other players in the natural gas sector who the over-the-counter markets to guard themselves against fluctuations in prices, exchange rates and interest rates.
