New Concept Studied in LNG-Powered Shipping

Paris-based GTT, a maker of cryogenic membrane containment systems for transport and storage of LNG, has teamed up with French shipping company CMA CGM, and classification society DNV GL to study a new concept in LNG bunkering. The vessel is electrically driven, with the power derived from a combined gas and steam turbine fueled by LNG. The ship will not have an engine room, hence it will be dubbed the Piston Engine Room Free Efficient Container-ship, or PERFECt.
