Working Fleets Adding CNG, LNG Presence

The use of LNG and compressed natural gas (CNG) as transportation fuels has taken another major step forward with separate deals in New York and California involving buses and other fleet vehicles. In the first deal, the New York City Transit Authority (NYCT) has awarded New Flyer of America a contract for 138 heavy-duty 40-foot Xcelsior buses fueled by CNG. The firm contract is valued at $78 million. New Flyer has also bid to supply NYCT with 139 60-foot Xcelsior CNG-fueled buses. That contract has not yet been awarded.
