Cheniere's Corpus Christi LNG Export Plan Rides Global Trends

Last week, Houston-based Cheniere Energy announced two LNG sale and purchase agreements (SPAs), in as many days, for LNG from its proposed three-train, 13.5 million ton per year (mtpa) export plant at Corpus Christi, Texas. "To date we have entered into SPAs aggregating approximately 7 mtpa of LNG volumes, completing our long-term contracting for the first two trains of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project," said Cheniere Chief Executive Charif Souki. "We expect to complete all necessary steps to reach a final investment decision and begin construction by early 2015," he added (NGW Jun.2'14).
