BG Pulls Plug on BC LNG, Other Projects Show Signs of Teetering

British Columbia was full of optimism only a couple of years ago. Build the LNG plants and Asian customers will flock to the suppliers with the shortest travel distance. That was the thinking. However, before international oil companies, giant Asian utilities and other investors would be willing to put up the billions of dollars required to develop and build massive LNG export complexes and supporting infrastructure, they needed a regulatory system and fiscal regime that would ensure an adequate rate of return over several decades.
