Houston-based Linn Energy reported encouraging third-quarter production results ahead of a possible update on its still-pending attempt to acquire oil-weighted US producer Berry Petroleum. Linn reported production of 823 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day (56% natural gas) during the third quarter, a 6% improvement from lackluster second-quarter output of 780 MMcfe/d that fell below the company's guidance.
