Board Members Replaced in Suit Dispute

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal made good on his promise, replacing three members of a New Orleans-area flood control board created after Hurricane Katrina because they supported a lawsuit against 97 oil and natural gas companies over damage to the state's coastal plains. The nine-member Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East board filed the lawsuit in July, claiming that among the major causes of land loss along the coastal plains are 10,000 miles of canals, slips and channels cut through the state's coastal plains and wetlands by energy companies over the decades (NGW Jul.29'13).
