Cheniere's Sabine Pass LNG Inks Supply Deal with France's EDF

US LNG pioneer Cheniere Energy is ramping up the non-Asian portion of its sales strategy, this time with a deal to sell LNG cargoes via subsidiary Cheniere Marketing to French power company EDF at a sales price linked to a European gas pricing index. Cheniere Marketing has agreed to sell up to 26 cargoes of LNG, or up to 2 million tons of LNG, to EDF on an ex-ship basis from the Sabine Pass LNG export plant to the Dunkerque LNG import terminal in France through 2018. The sales price for the cargoes is linked to the Dutch Title Transfer index (TTF), a natural gas pricing index in continental Europe.
