More Pipelines Out of Marcellus, Utica Slated, 2.5 Bcf/d Capacity

Natural gas pipeline companies are working to mitigate the capacity shortage out of the Marcellus and Utica Shales where production has been bottlenecked and downstream consumers often have paid premium prices due to supply shortages. Two major projects were disclosed last week with collective budgets of $2.75 billion and a combined throughput of 2.5 billion cubic feet per day. One is directed at providing more gas to customers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, while the other will serve the Upper Midwest, Appalachian and Gulf Coast regions.
