Petrohawk Unveils Shale Play;South Texas Find Near Pipelines

Petrohawk Energy unveiled a promising new unconventional natural gas play last week that it claims is geologically similar to the Haynesville but near existing pipeline infrastructure in South Texas,making it cheaper to develop.The company said its horizontal discovery well in the Eagle Ford Shale play is producing 9.1 million cubic feet of equivalent per day,7.6 MMcf/d of which is natural gas.A second well drilled 15 miles from the initial well has produced promising results and was found to be of higher quality,though the company declined to specify its flow rates.A third well is set to be spudded next month.
