TransCanada Exiting AK LNG After Alaska Takes Over Project Stake

More than 40 years after TransCanada Pipelines took a role in a project that would monetize the 35 trillion cubic feet of proved natural gas reserves on Alaska's North Slope — and likely two or three times that much — the company is on the verge of leaving. Last week, both houses of Alaska's Legislature overwhelmingly approved bills to allow the state to buy out TransCanada's stake in the pipeline and gas-treating plant for the proposed Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas project, or AK LNG.
