Oregon LNG Seeks Fere Go-Ahead For West Coast Import-Export Plan

Oregon LNG has asked the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Fere) for authorization to build a bidirectional LNG facility at Warrenton, Oregon. The application puts the Warrenton project at sixth in the queue for approval by the US Department of Energy to export to non-free trade agreement countries, or next in line behind Oregon's other proposed LNG project, Jordan Cove(NGWMay27'13). Oregon LNG originally filed with Fere for an import terminal in 2008, but has now, in the wake of the US shale gale, filed to amend that application to allow for a bidirectional project. "The project presents numerous benefits to the public, including the expansion of market outlets and access for US and Canadian natural gas producers to foreign markets, as well as the potential for access to increased supply for stranded domestic markets, such as Hawaii and coastal Alaskan communities," said the filing.
