Kinder Morgan's LNG export project near Savannah, Georgia, is nearing full regulatory approval and final investment decision following receipt of a positive environmental assessment from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc). The $2 billion project would convert 350 million cubic feet of gas per day into 2.5 million tons per year of LNG. It is located adjacent to the Elba Island LNG import complex that has a re gasification capacity of 1.75 billion cubic feet per day. Kinder Morgan is looking for a financial partner to fund up to half of the cost of the export project, Richard Kinder, founder and chairman emeritus, said at the company's recent analyst day. The partner most likely would be an infrastructure equity fund, not an industry player, he told investors.
