Gulfport Energy Production Tops 53K Boe/d This Month, Mainly Gas

Gulfport Energy's third-quarter production exceeded both its own guidance and the expectations of analysts, topping 42,300 barrels of oil equivalent per day (71% natural gas). The Oklahoma City-based firm sees output rising even further during the fourth quarter. During the first half of October, its output averaged 53,400 boe/d. This is good news for Gulfport, which recently has had issues hitting its production targets, analysts from Wells Fargo and KeyBanc Capital Markets said. Gordon Douthat said in a note to clients that in order for Gulfport to hit its production guidance for the year, it would have to average 52,000 boe/d. It had previously stated that production would average 37,000 to 42,000 boe/d for 2014. The firm's management indicated during the second-quarter earnings call that the company would exit 2014 producing in the mid-50,000 boe/d range.
