If 2011 was the "golden age" for propane and other natural gas liquids (NGLs), then 2012 will usher in the dark ages, according to a bearish outlook released by FirstEnergy Capital analyst Steven I. Paget. The Calgary-based analyst cuts the firm's NGL fractionation spread outlook for the second consecutive quarter in a report titled Frac Spread Outlook: Take A Deep Breath, We Believe It Will Get Worse Before It Gets Better. He recalled that FirstEnergy called for NGLs fractionation spreads to decline by 18% in the second quarter. Now the company expects a further drop in the third quarter.
