BP Pays $7 Billion for Devon Assets

Supermajor BP unveiled a $7 billion deal to buy Devon Energy's assets in the Brazilian deepwater, US Gulf of Mexico and Azerbaijan last week. BP will gain interests in 240 leases in the US Gulf of Mexico, extending the company's already significant deepwater portfolio. The interests include the remaining 30% BP did not already own in the deepwater Kask-ida discovery as well as four producing oil fields — Zia, Magnolia, Merganser and Nansen.
