US Natural Gas Emissions Are Now Outpacing Those of Coal

The natural gas share in US power production is eclipsing coal to the point that greenhouse (GHG) emissions could soon outpace coal, according to the US Energy Information Administration's (EIA) latest Short-Term Energy Outlook. The outlook projects energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from all US natural gas consumption will be 10% higher than those from coal in 2016 - for the first time since 1972.
