摘要

If shale gas production continues to increase at forecasted levels, IHS Global Inc. says investment in oil and gas midstream and downstream infrastructure could balloon to $1.15 Trillion over the next 12 years, according to a study commissioned by the American Petroleum Institute (API) released on Tuesday. API’s study also showed a dramatic 60% increase in infrastructure spending between 2010 and 2013, when spending went from $56.3 billion to $89.6 billion. The study was conducted by IHS Global to demonstrate the rapid growth in pipelines and processing facilities that unfolded after the Great Recession as a result of increased unconventional oil and gas activity. API released the study in conjunction with its annual State of American Energy Report and also launched a new advertising campaign ahead of midterm elections in November.
