Limitations of the trauma concept and clinical errors

The evaluation of traumatizations requires explicit knowledge and experience of the legal basis, the disturbance concepts and the traumatically relevant consequences for the exploration and assessment process. In particular, a distinction must be drawn between symptom-related obstacles, traumas-specific relationships, the difficulties in distinguishing between injury-dependent and non-harmful disorders as well as inadequate knowledge of legal background. Especially the assessment of damage-dependent and harmless mental disorders is difficult and leads to the fact that psychotraumatological assessments can reach very different results.
