New generation die tryout centers: an effective way to save time and money during the tryout process

The recent evolution of North American press shops has included impressive installations of large crossbar and tri-axis transfer presses for the production of large automotive panels. All major car manufacturers have invested in this technology. Die-related downtime for these transfer presses often is significant because, to be able to produce panels of high quality, the dies must he tried out before production. Doing this work off-line on more cost-effective tryout presses can minimize the considerable expense of trying out dies using production presses. A close relationship between press users and press builders has resulted in the development of state-of-the-art hydraulic tryout presses with the ability to simulate both mechanical and hydraulic press functions.
