In a further sign that prospects look better for Russia’s Gazprom in the Baltic Sea than in the Black Sea, its long-term German par tner Wintershall has joined the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project, while the Turk Stream gas pipeline is facing more hurdles. Wintershall said on Jul. 31 that it has signed a memorandum to take part in building the 55 Bcm/yr Nord Stream-2. France’s Engie (formerly GDF Suez) is also expected to join the project, which already includes Royal Dutch Shell, Germany’s E.On and Austria’s OMV (NC Jun.25’15).
