Turkmenistan Taps China for South Yolotan Loan

Turkmenistan is tying its future closer to China in a move that could tip the balance of interests in the Central Asian natural gas powerhouse further away from the US, Russia and Europe. The Turkmens are seeking a loan of $4.1 billion from Beijing to develop its super- giant South Yolotan gas field, hard on the heels of a $4 billion loan extended by China last year.
