USTRANSCOM Building at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Ill.

The United States Transportation Command, or USTRANSCOM, provides air, land and sea transportation for the Department of Defense. USTRANSCOM recently received a new headquarters at Scott, and metal serves as a major design component. ATAS International Inc. supplied metal wall and roofing panels for the 180,000 square-foot (16,722 m2), three-story building. About 5,200 square feet (483 m~2) of 24-gauge steel Rigid Wall (MFR160) was installed in Classic Bronze, and 48,000 square feet (4,459 m~2) of 24-gauge Field-Lok (FLR999) in Classic Bronze was used for the roof. Rigid Wall is a structural wall panel that has a dramatic shadow line created by the ribs. Field-Lok is a standing-seam system that is mechanically seamed in the field.
