Investigations were carried out at Agricultural Research Station, Arsikere, Hassan district, Karnataka, during 2007-08 to develop integrated nutrient management practices for kalmegh as intercrop in coconut garden. The experiment consisted of eight nutrient management practices was laid out in RCBD with three replications. The growth and dry matter accumulation was significantly higher with the recommended practice of 10 t FYM ha~(-1) + recommended NPK through fertilizers followed by 50 per cent N through FYM/VC + 50 per cent NPK through fertilizers and recommended NPK through fertilizers. The total green and dry herb yield over three harvests was maximum with the recommended practice (15096 and 5233 kg ha~(-1)) followed by 50 per cent N through FYM+ 50 per cent NPK through fertilizers (14848 and 5019 kg ha~(-1)), recommended NPK through fertilizers (13893 and 4859 kg ha~(-1)) and 50 per cent N through VC + 50 per cent NPK through fertilizers (13611 and 4815 kg ha~(-1)) which were on par with eachother. The andrographolide content and its yield over three harvests was also significantly higher in the recommended practice (5.78% and 247.20 kg ha~(-1)) than other treatments and was on par with application of 50 per cent N through FYM + 50 per centNPK through fertilizers (5.72% and 236.74 kg ha~(-1)). The net income and B:C ratio were higher with the recommended practice followed by recommended NPK through fertilizers, 50 per cent N through FYM or VC + 50 per cent NPK through fertilizers. The study indicated that, the combined application of 50 per cent N through FYM/VC + 50 per cent NPK through fertilizers can be practiced for kalmegh as they have resulted in higher income compared to other treatments and next only to recommended practice of 101 FYM ha~(-1) + recommended NPK through fertilizers and application of only recommended NPK through fertilizers.
