A field experiment was conducted to study the impact of green manures viz., Sesbania rostrata, Crotalariajuncea and sulphur application on the dynamics of soil enzymes, nutrient contents and grain yield of rice in rice soil. Incorporation of green manures Sesbania rostrata and Crotalaria juncea enhanced soil enzyme activity by recording the highest activity on 30th day after incorporation. Sesbania rostrata with fertilizer nitrogen application exhibited a maximum urease activity of 146 u/g soil/hr of ammonia released and total nitrogen content was 1145.3 ppm and the same treatment of Sesbania rostrata with fertilizer nitrogen registered maximum grain yield of 4893.5 kg/ha.
