摘要

The study revealed that, at all operating pressures, viz., 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1 kg/cm2; the discharge rate of the porous pipes installed at different depths (5, 15 & 27.5 cm depths), in clayey soil provided with sand envelopes was found to be more effective compared to the porous pipes without sand envelope. The optimum operating pressure for the porous pipe having 1.6 cm diameter was found to be 0.8 kg/cm2. Porous pipes are having only medium distribution efficiency. The porous pipe installed at 15 cm depth with sand envelope was found to exhibit maximum soil moisture distribution efficiency and discharge rate. The performance evaluation of porous pipe in okra crop revealed that porous pipe cannot be recommended for irrigating the plants through sub surface since it get clogged even after one year and also in the first year itself it gave only medium distribution efficiency.
