The study was conducted in Nanjangud taluk of Mysore district in Karnataka during 2010 to know the adoption behaviour of paddy farmers. One hundred and fifty paddy farmers were interviewed using a pre tested schedule. It was found that as high as 74.6per cent of paddy farmers were belonging to medium / low adoption levels of improved cultivation practices. Nearly 70 per cent of the variation in the adoption of improved cultivation practices was explained by all the ten variables included in the study. It was also found that the first largest indirect effect channeled through knowledge level in the case of six variables. Lack of technical know-how, pest and disease problem of paddy, high cost of agricultural inputs and non-availability of inputs ontime are the major production constraints encountered by the paddy farmers.
