Studies on the Family Composition of North Canara Forests of Karnataka

A brief description of vegetation of Devimance Ghat of Uttara Kannada district is given by an enumeration of forest species collected in the area, results have showed that the study area comprises of 44 families and the maximum family composition wasfound in third altitudinal zone and fourth allitudinal zone (33 families) followed by second altitudinal zone (31 families) and least in first altitudinal zone 128 families). The vegetation of Devimane Ghat was found intermediate in species richness as compared to identical vegetation in the Western Ghats.
