Screening of Grape Germplasm against Powdery Mildew (Uncinula necatof) under Field Conditions

GRAPE (Vitis vinifera L.j production is greatly affected by many diseases. Of these powdery mildew caused by Uncinula necator (Sehw) Bur. (Syn. Oidium tucheri) by Kapoor (1967) is highly destructive and causes huge losses in productivity. Though the disease can effectively be controlled with fungicides, soil excessive use of these is hazardous for human health. Resistant varieties though safe but the pathogen overcome the resistance due to its poycyclic nature. Hence, an attempt has been made to screen grape germplasm under field conditions against powdery mildew disease for identification of powdery mildew resistant genotypes.
