The use of statins is recommended to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with diabetes mellitus; however, the optimal treatment strategy in terms of individual benefit versus overall health costs remains unresolved.As age is a major determinant of CVD risk, this study aimed to define the optimal age at which statin therapy should be initiated.
