Patients with acute ischemic stroke are at increased risk of a recurrent stroke and a myocardial infarct (Ml), but it is not clear which of these events is more likely to happen. Knowing the relative risk of each outcome will allow better planning for potential events and more-aggressive targeting of prevention strategies.
